Applied topically Kawakawa is considered a blood purifier that helps draw and heal skin conditions including swellings with suggested antimicrobial and insecticidal properties.

Ingredients

We use certified organic Borage and Oil of Borage. Borage seed oil contains a fatty acid called gamma linolenic acid (GLA). GLA seems to have anti-inflammatory effects. Borage flower might have an antioxidant effect. This reference was taken from WebmD. Borage has also been used for centuries in the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions and arthritis conditions.
Kawakawa steeped in Grapeseed oil. Grapeseed oil as a carrier is gentle and absorbs easily into the skin – it also contains antioxidants which are beneficial for cell repair.
Hypericum Oil is very expensive but we believe it is so important to adding value to the action of Kawakawa that we won’t cut costs and leave it out. Hypericum oil has an affinity with nerves and traditionally it has been used for the treatment of eczema and haemorrhoids.
Kumerahou is used in tincture form. Our head practitioner wild harvests the Kumerahou in the Whangamata area once a year when it is in flower. This is a treasure to NZ and we take the harvest of it very seriously. In Maori rongoa books Kumerahou is considered a cleanser.
Last but not least Calendula. Manutuke Herbs grows most of its Calendula flower on a converting to organic spray free property. Calendula is known to be a natural antiseptic flower which aids skin repair.
